Aztec Art Deco Carved & Painted Mahogany Liquor Cabinet 1930s SOLD F659

This superb custom show-piece is distinguished by its deep, inticrately hand-carved design of Aztec motifs, while its proportions place it squarely in the Deco style of the late 1920s and early 1930s, Examples of Aztec Art Deco are rare in architecture and furnishings and justly highly prized. Enthusiastic practitioners of the style in Los Angeles were Frank Lloyd Wright (Hollyhock House, Ennis House), his son, Lloyd Wright (Sowden House), and Robert Stacy-Judd (Monrovia’s famous Aztec Hotel).

The cabinet has suffered some wear from use along the way, notably around its hardware (swinging metal tassel pulls) but is in solid shape otherwise.

Height 39.5″, Width 33.75″, Depth 20.5″.
