Before becoming a painter, Brian Stewart had a successful 25-year career in advertising
doing award-winning work on national corporate and packaged goods accounts. He was recognized for his excellence in graphic design and advertising art direction in print and broadcast.
He received his early art training at The Art Center in Los Angeles, and later at Atelier LeSueur in Minneapolis, where he learned the classic, academic fundamentals as they were taught in Paris a century ago. Teaching has also been a major part of his art career. He has taught at Pasadena City College, the Minneapolis College of Art & Design and lectured and taught workshops throughout the US and abroad.
Brian has received many awards for his plein air work including ARC International Salon awards, Best of Show at Coos Art Museum, California Art Club and more. His work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur, Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, American Artist and The Artist Magazine among others. He has served as juror and lecturer for
national plein air shows and judged prestigious online art competitions. Brian has also been the subject of TV and online interviews about museums and being a contemporary artist.
