A lovely autumnal landscape painted with a considerable amount of brio by a French painter latterly known for his watercolors and etchings. He was commissioned to paint many watercolors of Mont St-Michel under the name of La Brige to be reproduced as popular souvenirs and cards by the Fromentier family in the 1950s: the originals have now entered the market, and he would have been surprised to learn how they have enhanced his reputation, and his value to collectors!
The canvas measures 23 1/2" x 35 1/2" and the frame is 28 1/2" x 40 1/2".
