About the artist:
Frederic Watts received his early education in his home state of Indiana. In college, he transferred from the University of Cincinnati to The Art Academy of Cincinnati as a scholarship student, where he studied painting under Frank Duveneck for two years, and drawing under Herman H. Wessell, John Weisz and James Hopkins for three years.
After leaving school he became affiliated with lithographic houses in Cincinnati and Newport, Kentucky. Watts was a member of the Pasadena Society of Artists, California Print Makers and Fine Arts Club of Pasadena.
