Le Goullon – Lithograph of San Francisco roof tops, Coit Tower, a hillside park, and even the bridge. Lithograph measures 13 1/4 x 15 1/2.
Lamartine Le Goullon was a painter and graphic artist who was a member of the highly influential Associated American Artists group who left their stamp on mid-century America’s textiles, book design and record covers, housewares and advertising. In a strange reversal of its “market to the masses” philosophy, many early AAA prints which sold originally for $5 go to art collectors for thousands of dollars today. Le Goullon’s designs and illustrations for the Burl Ives Song Book are acknowledged as a classic and his fabrics are sought after by collectors. Definitely a mid-century artist on the cusp of discovery.
