San Diego native Richmond Irwin Kelsey’s life is a map to the development of the arts in Southern California in the 20th century. After studying at the Otis Art Institute, as well as with Frank Morley Fletcher he taught, and found work with Disney as an Art director from 1938-1950, as well as illustrating (and even writing) children’s books, and exhibited widely throughout his career, making his mark as a woodcut artist as well as a painter.
