Set of 3 Hopi Wicker Plaques A1067

These shallow baskets are called plaques and are very highly prized by by collectors. There is a school of thought that holds that because these are still so present¬†in Hopi homes that they might represent a purer line of descent from earlier designs than those of the better known¬†basket work, being freer of commercial influence. Another school of thought, of course, would dispute that. Either way, these are physical talismans of continuity. And they are so beautiful besides. 11″, 13″, 14.5″ diameters.
