This oil on canvas of a gorgeous señorita is monumental in size for the genre: the canvas alone measures 28″ x 40″. It still proudly bears its original gold leafed gilt frame. Experts peg this to circa 1920. It has been cleaned and relined. The kicker is that such a lovely painting was never signed. That’s actually not unusual: many important artists of the period, like Sam Hyde Harris for instance, rarely signed their work. Theodore Jackman was known to be one of these and this painting is certainly in his style, color palette and composition. Whoever painted it, it remains a wonderful piece rendered by an artist of great skill.
