“The Cherokee” Folk Art Pickup Truck Side Panel Placard Advertisement c AP490 SOLD

There is a terrific neighborhood bar in Bernal Heights in San Francisco pretty serious about live music and the past called the Lucky Horseshoe. It used to be known as Skip’s Tavern, but a fantastic mural the owners have uncovered (amazing!) speaks to an earlier and glorious incarnation as The Cherokee. How do we know this? Because we discovered this wonderful piece of folk art in the shape of a truck side panel advertising the establishment which just happened to share The Lucky Horseshoe’s address.. The Indian head and the martini glass are great enough, but the real kicker is the “Rebel” also on the sign. The present owner tells us it was a serious biker bar in the old days and the Rebels were a serious biker gang. But a nice one. Cool!  We’re guessing this sign adorned the owner’s own pickup. We think it’s pure magic.
